Steve is a Director of Family-School Partnerships for Family Leadership and has been with the organization for more than 5 years. He’s noted for his engaging training style and for his long-term partnerships with school districts. It’s easy to relate to Steve through his experiences as a parent, sports figure, and community developer.
Steve was raised in a single parent household in Oakland, California, and earned a baseball scholarship to Fresno State University. He excelled as a power hitter on a championship team and was drafted by Major League Baseball to play for the San Francisco Giants. He played for the Giants and Angels, and also played internationally before coaching in the Oakland A’s and Kansas City Royals organizations. Steve gained an understanding of communities large and small as he coached in cities across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
After his experience, Steve returned to Fresno to raise his family and created a successful career in real estate. He is recognized for developing high quality grocery shopping centers and rehabbing residential properties in underserved communities. Steve and his wife hold bachelor degrees in Ministry and Leadership and have served in their local church for more than 20 years.
In 2014, he moved into a national leadership position with Family Leadership to incorporate his experience as a parent and community leader.
Steve and his wife, Deborah, have two sons and a grandson. He continues to mentor college students at his alma mater, Fresno State University, and to inspire parent leaders. Steve’s secret talent: He is an IT expert and solves all our tech snafus at events.
